Message: Hi,Well this was my first week using your Steinitz Fractal breakout custom indicator. My record for the week is 5 wins and 2 losses but my winners were bigger take profits than my stop losses. I only trade the GBP/JPY and cable on the 15 min time frame and i get confirmation on both the 30 min and 1 hour chart before entering a trade. I don't trade London session at all. I live in Las Vegas so i sleep nights. I trade from 5:00pm PST Asian session until about 10 pm. Then I trade most all of NY session looking for set ups until noon PST as that's when the volatility dies completely after noon. I look for one signal per day and if i win the trade I'm done for the day ( on each of the 2 pairs i trade) This first week i made a good profit. I'm just following your rules and it's been successful.

Thank you for the response. I don't know why my PDF-reading software would not do the job but the Adobe Reader did. I now have an English language manual and Lo! and Behold! right there on page 21: "Do not change timeframes on the chart after the Robot is installed as this will force a new trade." It's good to have it for instruction and reference. Thanks again.
The money from my retirement fund is supposed to arrive Monday or Tuesday. I went ahead and purchased the SFBI and installed it on a $10,000 demo account on Wed., the 16th so I could be learning how to use it properly/profitably. Just thought you might be interested to know that at the close on Fri., the 18th, I had closed 112 trades with only 1 for a loss (111 up, one down - pretty good batting average!). The account is up to $16,705.38 for a return of 67+%. Needless to say, I'm most encouraged because I don't feel I really know what I'm doing as of yet (I'm using the method detailed in the three brief instructional videos, the links to which were provided in the SFBI Manual; I've not yet implimented the Day-trade and Swing-trade described in webinar # 9).
My first purchase upon receiving the retirement funds is the 8 previous webinars and then I plan to immerse myself in them, insuring that I follow your guidelines implicitly. A few questions: Do live accounts (I've never had one) function exactly as do demo accounts?; in other words, can I expect the same kind of results? How long do you recommend I demo-trade before feeling prepared (safe) to go live? Do your instructional webinars address trading on Fridays and around Holidays, as well as open positions over weekends? (This being my first weekend of manual trading, I'll be closely watching my open trades when the markets re-open on Sunday evening to try to learn how they react.)
Finally, Mr. Steinitz, thanks for a remarkable product and your most patient support. The results of the first couple of days for this complete Forex neophyte are providing a very real hope that, in our retirement, my spouse and I won't have to downsize our lifestyle, but rather can maintain and even improve upon it...and that hope, sir, is much appreciated and very welcome indeed.

I am 5 for 5 and up 78 pips.....having 5 wins, no losses, trading on the Fractal Breakout....just using the arrows, time frame confirmation and tips you shared in our discussion. Don.... Your session today was worth every dollar. I’ve been profitable using “fractal”, but I needed refinement and directions reinforced. I appreciate your passion for your products and your willingness to participate in the community. I read your emails from time to time in FPA and other places, when the “Marcus Leary’s” and “Andreas Kirchberger’s” are nowhere to be found and remain in the shadows, just pushing their schlock robots along with simply marketing the same schlock of others as affiliate marketers. Some thought they could find an easier, softer way..but it availed them nothing.” I’m finding this applies to trading as well. Using a demo account with your parameters of $10,000 and 1 lot trades, $7,775 in two weeks. I must confess however that in accumulating these profits I felt rather like it was midnight, in a pitch black room with a blindfold on and two pins in my hands with the donkey's backside somewhere in front of me and the purpose of this communique is to ask you to clear up a few points for me in the application so I don't go stumbling around in a fog of optmism. Notwithstanding these few temporary confusions, I still consider it, as you say, a truly potentially life changing indicator for me and mine and I want to thank you personally for developing it. I feel that once I have my patter down, my live bankroll will be in a lot safer hands (mine) than trusting it to a money manager. Thank You, Don Steinitz, for Creating and Sharing Your "Fractal Breakout Custom Indicator Webinar" Many thanks, Don for sharing your wisdom and your body of work for a generous and reasonable cost. Wanted to share with you how I experimented with what you taught yesterday and how I approached today's (04/30/09) trading sessions. Captured over $1,600 today on a $25,000 account. Could not have come close to doing it without the expertise you imparted at the Intermediate-Level "Fractal Custom Indicator" Webinar last night. Traded roughly 5 to 10 minis each on a number of pairs, mostly Yen pairs and EURUSD on the 15 minute chart. My approach is to assume that EVERY trade I enter will be a LOSER. Then I'm pleasantly surprised / shocked if it somehow turns out to be a winner. This is the opposite of how 95% of traders approach the markets (70 to 90% win expectation is common) and that's why 95% don't make money consistently. They try to force wins that aren't there instead of focusing entirely on risk management. So I don't trade unless the potential reward (@ fib 100) is +2x the stop loss risk. That way out of 10 trades, if Steinitz Fractal Breakout Setups are profitable @ fib 100 only 50% of the time, I can't lose over the long haul. Simply manage the downside risks and the upside profits will take care of themselves. Most of the time in today's session I took profit on the entire trade @ the 100 fib, primarily because you mentioned that 8 or 9 times out of 10 the move will take profit @ the 100 fib. I like those odds. No. I love those odds. Also, had a few trades take profit @ fib 162 and fib 262 on the USDJPY (that huge spike candle rally in the NY session after FOMC that you mentioned in the webinar followed thru in the subsequent Asian & London sessions). Trading 10 minis - took 5 off @ fib 100, 3 off @ fib 162 and 2 off @ 262. The higher the odds of taking a profit the more lots I take down. Realistic expectations based on probable outcomes. After fib 100 profit taken, raised stop to breakeven.
After fib 162 profit taken, raised stop on remaining lots to fib 100. Once fib 162 is reached, don't want any part of breaking even on a trade that exceeds the 100 fib target. To hell with fib 262. Not too greedy. Not too generous. Moderation. Noticed that when the Asian session opens in earnest @ roughly 8:00 est that the Yen pairs tend to follow through on what transpired during the NY session (just like the stock market), especially on a big news/violent move day like FOMC. The Asian banks/traders have to square their positions in concert with what transpired in the NY session and usually that results in a continuation trade after the 4:00pm est to 8:00pm est lull between sessions. Also your "reversion to the mean" comments confirm my experiences. Volatility is mean reverting. So after a big move, on balance, volatility compresses. And after protracted narrow range trading, volatility explodes. That's the ebb and flow, the inhaling and exhaling of market forces. Again many thanks for sharing your expertise so generously. Although you don't need my help, hoping this sheds some light on how I approach trading and will employ your exceptional invention. After trading the daily for the last few years I came to realize that if the weekly candle rather than the weekly trend is in agreement with the daily candle it's a strong signal. Dear Don Thank you for the xover webinar. I got the missing codec from the link you provided and it solved the problem so I could watch it. I am so excited you cant believe. Usdjpm +63 pips; eurjpm +70 pips both in under 6 hrs. It is 3:47 am Houston time as I write this. I made some pips tonight based on the webinar and some thought. Let me explain. Both the usdjpm and eurjpm seemed strong for the following reasons: 1 I got a crossover on the usdjpm 1 hr at 22:00 GMT which then sank to the ma50 and bounced. I looked for a 1hr bar that looked like it was going to be higher than the last down bar and then dialed the time frame lower until I got a signal on the 5 minute bar. I got in at 03:19 chart time with 0.5 mini lots on usdjpm. 14 minutes later I had a signal pop up for eurjpm 1 hr chart and traded it also. Set stop loss and went to bed and woke up at 4 am. I have attached an indicator that I found some time ago in the metatrader community, do with it as you see fit. I only use it cause it shows spread and avg daily range for the pair and where we are in that daily range. I tell you this because I used this to determine my take profit on eurjpm. Daily avg is 144 pips we were down 60 pips at entry time so 144-60 said 80 up pips potential and dialed it down a few by 10% off. Usdjpm I was planning on holding for about 200 pips but didn’t like chart when I got up an hour ago and took profit of 63 pips daily avg is 85 and high to low was 78 so took the 63 pips. Charts are going up again as write this but oh well. Here is proof. This an xover chart as you taught. Just want to say thank you for the lesson, worth every penny and more. Bruce
Don.. I bought the Custom Fractal Indicator 2 weeks ago and have been using it on my live micro acct for just one week so far. I can tell you that I am VERY pleased with this software and it's amazingly high and accurate percentages in targeting very good entry points for trades. I use the 15 min charts with 30 min and 1 hour charts as my confirmations. I have taken a live micro acct from $200.00 to $670 in 3 days. I'm very impressed and whats most important is that I am learning via the software, so much about what are the key points to look for in winning trades.

Dude. This thing is awesome. I caught +163 live and took trades on a demo with the CAD + 25 and another with the GBP/JPY +35.I have only traded for 90 minutes today so far. Very good results. It calls attention to trades I probably wouldn't have seen since I concentrate just on the Pound and the Euro. He is right, it gives so many good signals it is hard to take them all. Yesterday afternoon I played around with it and all four of the signals it gave failed, but I wouldn't have been trading at the time I used it. Don.... I missed the last half of yesterday's webinar due to a lengthy business phone call that was scheduled for today because the caller got his days mixed up. I just want to tell you that after five years of trading Forex I only use your (paid for) Fractal. I have three computers w/three monitors and several other free indicators for help but the Fractal for me is the best indicator for the money. I'll make this short..........like this morning. There were so many arrows to go long or short on it was unbelieveable. I went with the USD/CAD, EUR/JPYand the GBP/JPY and they were all winners. Hi Don, I had purchased both the Fractal Break out and Hedge system and to tell you the truth I am quite amazed. I have 10 years experince trading forex and the thought of using automated systems always made me cringe. Not anymore, I am batting 90% percent on trades and enjoying the process. Initially the draw downs on the Hedge system made me lose some sleep but now I wake up refreshed after a good night sleep. I realize that all positions eventual close in profit. ( attached statement enclosed). Notice the initial balance and the run up and then the huge draw down, that was me manually trading , then you see where the Hedge system took over, it shot up again to the level it was months ago.. Hi Don, You know my history with demo accounts ($10k to $30K in 30 days)and wanted to share with you my experience using minimal amount of real money with the fractal indicator.
I deposited $1900.00 10 days ago (real money) and now have a balance of $3097..I will let you figure out the return...My goal was to see how fast I could build the equity to $3000 and it took just 10 days.
Strategy was very simple. No more than 10% total per combined trades trade and avoid going against the prevailing trend as determined by the daily chart. Traded off the 15 minute, and tried to trade after crossover of 50 and 10 ma the first signal.
My fav pair is the geppy. I pick the times of the day to trade, early Asian session, the UK open if I am up(I live in est), and the crossover time between the UK/New York Session... I try not to trade if possible after London goes home.
Sometimes I do break my rules...I really, really , really try not to trade too soon after a great trade. My achilles heal has always been ending a winning streak with a huge loser.
Discipline was key..tried not to overtrade or go against the trend ( not to say that I did not have to hold onto a trade as there may have been false signals or an itchy trigger figure)
I have supplied my account statement with all open trades ( which are well within my risk tolerance)
I never advertised any stop loss (kept it mental)....read a very interesting book called "How to Beat the Forex Dealer" and was disgusted to get confirmation how it is common practice to gun for stops..I am probably going to buy your equity trail ea as it seems to hide my intentions from the broker.
Great system..in fact the best I have ever used, and have been trading for over 3 years.
Still need to keep the greed in check and determine wether to run with the trend for maximum pips or be happy with a quick hit and run approach.
